<p>The steering committee has been gearing up for some big projects this summer. In addition to our own internal strategic planning, we wanted to get members involved in a few different ways. We hope you participate!</p>

<p><strong><span>Polar Educators International Survey 2012</span></strong></p>

<p>The steering committee for our organization is looking towards the future. We want to include feedback from members and other interested parties on the important priorities for our organization to help develop plan our future direction. This survey is comprised of important questions for your consideration. <p><strong><span>Polar Week Flagship Activity Contest</span></strong></p>
<p><i>Submissions are due by July 25th to this address. </i>(Please use Subject Line: Flagship Submission)</p>
<p>Your teaching can go global!!<br /> PEI is partnering with APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists) to celebrate Polar Week: September 16-22,2012.<br /> PEI members are encouraged to submit an activity/lesson to be chosen as the flagship activity for all educators and classrooms around the world. Through our partnership, APECS members have pledged to translate the winning activity into nearly 30 different languages including Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Sakhu (Yajut) and many more. All other submissions will become be a part of a growing set of Polar Week resources.<br /> Winning submission will be announced in early August. Questions and comments to PEI.</p>

<p>Requirements for submission:</p>
<p> </p>
<ul>
<li>Entire submission must be 500-700 word count (1-1.5 pages) for ease      of translation</li>
<li>Winning submission becomes a creative commons document, no      restrictions on use</li>
<li>Activity must be accessible and appropriate to a large age group of      students</li>
<li>Submit lesson/activity in English. If you have a submission in      another language, please contact PEI.</li>
<li>Verify that your submission is scientifically or culturally      accurate</li>
<li>You must be available for translators to contact you for      clarifications via email</li>
</ul>

<p><span style="text-align: justify; ">Use the real data collected in the context of the Sun Shadow Project to make some easy interpretation and comparison of the measures taken and leading to understand some feature of the pattern of the relation between Solar radiation (and solar energy), latitude and time</span></p>
